DragonSkin Grip: About Us and Our Pioneering Golf Technology

Our Grip Concept

Just as you would find in a standard car tire, golf grips and tires generally utilize grooves within their surface structure of these components to maintain adhesion and stability of both car tires and golf grips. This created a question, Why is there only a "concave" shape or depression to aid in the adhesion aspect. The palms of our hands are not flat and hard like well-maintained roads? And there are no conventional grips providing adhesiveness and golf grip strength only through their materials.

The palms of hands and golf gloves are extremely soft and moldable as compared to sand in off roading conditions with automobiles. Comparing standard radial street tires and those designed for off road conditions, we have developed a golf grip with a concept that is the exact opposite of conventional golf grips: a "convex" grip like an off-road tire and a grip that “bites into the palm of the hand to deliver golf grip strength.

Jucie Inc.’s 3D CAD was used to engineer these globally rare and daring designs and become the complete opposite of any grip that has ever existed to ensure that every step of the process is exquisitely exactly and highly precise. This resulted in a unique design for the golf grip and golf grip surface that comes in contact with hands, with the angle and shape of each individual convexity on the golf grip surface all gradually varied in angle to match the golf grip taper (slanted).

Convex off-road tires produce grip strength by varying the internal pressure of the tire to soften or harden according to the road surface’s hardness on which they are driven. And just as there are differences in hardness between off-road surfaces, golfers may have hard or soft palms. To accommodate this, we have developed two types of hardness (compounds) for the DragonSkin Grip.

Both models are arranged in a "scale" shape with each convex angle on the golf grip surface. This allows for a more efficient grip strength than a normal flat, angled golf grip and prevents excess force from being applied.
This design and material (elastomer) have also contributed to increasing durability. The new grip is unique in that it has a convex, scale-like golf grip arrangement, which was conceived as impossible until now. The design is reminiscent of the scales of the dragon, an imaginary winged animal soaring in the sky that symbolizes absolute "strength."

During the development process, we sought feedback from players on the PGA and LPGA professional tours in which the world’s top players compete and shared their requests within our team.
